Not a fly-in or $100 hamburger topic, but does anyone know anything about the little mountain strip pictured in this www.alameda-aero.com/gallery/images/P0001526.jpg picture? It's an image I took a few years ago on the side of Big Pine Canyon, about 7,000' up the road to Glacier Lodge in the Eastern Sierra overlooking Owens Valley. There's no easy way to get to it by road, and it usually has a small Husky or Cub next to the shed near the runway. None of the locals in Big Pine seem to know it even exists; there's no obvious mining or industry around it, and it's not marked on sectionals or topos anywhere that I can see. One of those one-way-in, the-other-way-out strips by the looks of things. Not a lot of room for a go-around, I guess. The terrain behind me as I was taking the photo isn't a lot better than what you can see in front of me...

Looks like a Fish and Game strip. My buddy used to use little places like that in the Sierras while he was fish-stocking in a C-180. I bet if you looked closer at the little shed, all you'd find inside is a seat with a hole in it.

Well, that "little shed" is actually big enough to hold the Husky or Cub along with the hole in the ground :-). It looks more like the sort of private mining company strip you see a lot in Nevada, but there's nothing obviously near it. There's a Fish and Game strip a few miles away from this, but they tend to be marked on the topos and sectionals, and this one isn't.
