Anybody listen to music whilst flying? Your favorite artists & tracks?

I used to plug my iPod into the intercom of the RJ and turn the volume up just loud enough to hear it clearly. What I played depended heavily upon who I was flying with, but some of my favorite FOs to fly with had similar musical tastes. It was always great when I would fly with a guy who actually got excited about going on a four-day trip and listening to nothing but Rush or Led Zeppelin. We'd basically hit play on the first leg and not hear the same song for the remainder of the trip.
Flying the Boeing this sort of thing isn't possible since we don't have hot-mike intercoms. I've gotta make due with the music in my head.

Rush or Zeppelin?! Jeez, someone's going to think you're older than I am :-).
Anyway, as a bugsmasher pilot who rarely gets out of the busy NorCal Approach territory, and who gets way too wrapped up in the music, I have a vision of the absolute havoc that might come from my plugging my little iPod into the intercom ("2SP are you listening to me?! We've been trying to contact you for the past five minutes..."). Not a pretty thought.

You are not. Let's just say that I'm old enough to have been a (real) punk when Punk was novel... Old as I am, though, I'm still not quite a Grownup (as I'm sure Freight Dog Tales's John will attest). Too much History in my past for that :-)

I've always wanted to crank up the Top Gun anthem and do a low altitude barrel roll, but I don't think my CFI would approve.

Get some time in a Decathlon, CABob! On the other hand, I'd still discourage playing the Top Gun theme while doing akro...news of your pilot dorkdom will spread far and wide!
Most of the CA's I fly with are old enough that if I played music over the intercom, they'd be requesting Lawrence Welk... ;D
I really need to get with the program & get myself an iPod. Right now I bring my laptop everywhere with me, and use that if I wanna listen to Mp3s...but it's a bit clunky to use in the cockpit. I think "low key" is the way to go...

I'm going to wait another few years on an Ipod. I won't be satisfied until top-of-the-line drops down to $20! ;D
