Hello,
I´ve been following the various blogs by all of you for the past few months and have found them superb!
I feel the same about the more known aviation forums around the net and thus would really enjoy being a part of this group.
My name is Alfredo. I am an F/O for the equivalent of a Part 121 carrier in South America...my user name is the ICAO identifier for my home base. I wonder if any of you has ever heard of it!!! Perhaps I can provide an aviation perspective from outside North America, perhaps not...my writing abilities aren´t that great, but I will try.
Thanks...looking forward to being part of great sharing and discussions.
Saludos,
Alfredo

Hi Glenn,
Nice call on my location:) I guess it´s not that difficult with the incredible amount of information available on the Internet...the world is smaller every day!
Ecuador es a very small country with very diverse climates. We have tropical weather in the coastal areas and the jungle, and temperate climates in the mountains, where Quito (home) is located. Our elevation is 9,228 ft and the volcanoes all around us reach around 20,000 ft. Since the country is right on the equator, we never experience seasonal changes. In fact, I never touched snow until my honeymoon in Argentina not long ago. Sunrise and Sunset vary only about 25 minutes over the whole year. Makes for a very stable climate.
We only have a wet and a dry season. In Quito the wet season brings highs of about 18 C and lows at around 12 C with frequent showers. The dry season is windy with 22 C about the hottest it gets.
We don´t have tornadoes, hurricanes or blizzards, only earthquakes...I guess it´s either very boring or very stable, that´s for you to decide:)
Thanks for the welcome,
Alfredo
