Very sad. It seems that there's at least one fatality per year at Oshkosh or vicinity. The human loss is tragic enough, but the loss of an increasingly rare warbird adds to it.
I'm a little anxious to see who it is. The above article said nothing, and Avweb & EAA have nothing about it on their websites yet. Not that EAA would... "Everything's happy, nothing to see here folks!"

Okay. The AirVenture website is obviously only going to report the happy news that'll make the public visit OSH. The sad thing is that *avweb*, with freakin' daily reports from OSH, didn't even mention the crash. They essentially parrot the EAA partyline...I think they could easily write their reports without actually having anyone at Oshkosh. I understand that planes crash every day, and what's one more to report, but the loss of a P51D is significant. Had to find out who it was from the freakin' Oshkosh Northwestern. They had a decent editorial on the Oshkosh crashes today. I guess there *are* people in the media who are enlightened about aviation...those with the world's largest aviation gathering in their backyard! www.wisinfo.com/northwestern/news/opinion/stories/opinion_21991077.shtml
